Learn the Roulette Odds

Introduction To Roulette Odds

If you've ever seen roulette played at a live casino, it can often appear to be a fun, exotic game. Roulette is simple to learn, and you've probably already tried it a few times. You may or may not be aware that the excitement and fun of roulette is available right in your home through online casinos. If you do end up playing roulette online , here are a few tips to help you maximize your win potential.

American and European Roulette

A typical American roulette wheel contains numbers 1 through 36, plus 0 and 00. A European roulette wheel contains the same numbers, except without the 00. You do not want to play on an American roulette wheel online. The casino gets its edge by paying you the odds of your number coming up if there were no 0 or 00. Those extra "numbers" which distort the true odds are what make money for the casino. By doubling the amount of zero "numbers," the casino nearly doubles its edge against you. In a live casino, you have to play at whatever kind of roulette table they have. With the whole Internet to choose from, you'd be foolish to play at a roulette table that contains a 00.

Below, you find a chart that describes your chances of hitting every possible roulette bet, and also the payout for each wager.
